Krabi Bliss: Experience the Magic at Amari Vogue Thailand
There are several destinations in Thailand famed for their beauty and idyll, and Krabi is one of them, on my bucket list for many years. This year, I finally realised my dreams. After visiting Bangkok and Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand, I travelled south to Krabi to stay at Amari Vogue Krabi, a beguiling beach hotel which sits on the edge of a National Park, overlooking the picturesque Tubkaek Beach.

Location
Krabi is nestled along the pristine shores of southern Thailand, a scenic paradise which beckons travellers with its sheer white cliffs, emerald waters, and lush mangrove forests. Renowned for its stunning landscapes and vibrant culture, this enchanting province captivates visitors seeking an idyllic escape. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker drawn to its rock-climbing opportunities, snorkelling, diving, and kayaking, a sun worshipper craving lazy days on powdery beaches, or a nature enthusiast yearning to explore hidden caves and cascading waterfalls, Krabi offers a diverse tapestry of experiences to indulge every whim.

From the vibrant streets of Ao Nang to the tranquil shores of Railay Beach and the Island paradises of Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta Phi Phi and Hong Islands, Krabi promises an unforgettable journey into the heart of tropical splendour.

Amari Vogue Krabi is a charming 5-star ocean-facing resort, situated right on the Tubkaek beach, a serene and breath-taking stretch adorned solely by soft sand and a mesmerising seascape featuring remarkable rock formations known as mogotes, all embraced by dramatic limestone cliffs.

With no bars, shops, or restaurants in sight, it offers a heavenly escape for those seeking ultimate relaxation and tranquillity. However, fear not, if you want a little more hustle and bustle, Amari Vogue Krabi provides a convenient shuttle bus service to the nearby seaside town of Ao Nang, just 20 minutes away, where an array of restaurants, markets, and vibrant nightlife awaits.

The hotel is just a 30-minute drive from Krabi Town. The nearest airport, Krabi, is reachable via a scenic 40-minute drive from the resort, followed by Phuket, approximately a two-hour drive away.

About Amari Vogue Krabi
As we pulled into the driveway, we were greeted by the majestic presence of stone elephants and an inviting open-plan lobby. Friendly staff who looked after us beautifully throughout our stay welcomed us with refreshing fresh juice before escorting us to our room.

As a first-time guest at Amari Vogue Krabi, I was struck by the elegant Thai-inspired architecture, that seamlessly blends with the natural beauty of Krabi’s coastline. At the top, the marble-floored, peaked roof main reception area overlooks the resort offering sweeping panoramas of the ocean.

The hotel is built into the hillside, boasting cascading pools and water features across various tiers. It’s flanked by four-story chalky apricot-painted and dark wood accommodation suites, built on either side of a central stepped pathway. Each room features a balcony overlooking the lush tropical gardens which at night are lit up by fairy lights and lanterns hanging from the trees.

Down at beach level, you’ll find Marco’s restaurant, and bar, accompanied by vibrant red sunshades, sun loungers and inviting bean bags which stand out against the backdrop of sun-kissed yellow sands and tranquil blues.

Accommodation
At Amari Vogue Krabi, guests can choose from 64 well-appointed accommodations, including guestrooms, suites, and pool villas. I was holidaying with a friend, we opted for a twin room with a spacious layout and plush amenities, complete with a sea-view balcony overlooking the resort.

The room exuded sumptuous Thai influences, featuring polished dark red wood flooring, taupe wood panelling, and a striking decorative mural embellished with motifs of exotic fruits in gold and red tones. The twin beds were generously sized and adorned with charming towel origami elephants, adding a touch of whimsy to the space.

Furnished with a contemporary sofa, a table set with a selection of tropical fruit, a wooden desk, a chair, a TV, and a large mirror, the room provided a comfortable retreat after a day of exploration. A panelled folding window opened into the expansive mosaic-tiled bathroom, which boasted a large bathtub, double sinks, and a separate toilet and shower room with marble flooring. Additionally, plush towelling gowns, aromatic bath products, and essential travel accessories were thoughtfully provided. For added convenience, the room came equipped with tea and coffee-making facilities, a well-stocked mini-bar, efficient Wi-Fi, and safe and international plug sockets, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable stay.

Food and Drink
Breakfast is served at Lotus Restaurant, positioned halfway up the terrace and offering both indoor and outdoor seating. Here you can indulge in an impressive international breakfast buffet, complete with a live cooking station where egg dishes are freshly prepared. Guests can relish tempting hot and cold dishes, pastries and bread, creamy yoghurts, fresh fruits, and refreshing juices to cater to every palate.

For coffee enthusiasts, there’s an all-day Starbucks Coffee Bar, providing the perfect setting for those craving a taste of home with their favourite coffee beverages.

Lunch and dinner are served at Marco’s Restaurant, which features contemporary styling in soft shades of grey accentuated by black wood pillars. The ambience is enhanced by intricately designed wood panels in muted gold and mustard tones, complemented by large hanging wicker lampshades. Glass sliding doors seamlessly connect the restaurant to the beach, and sundeck creating an airy seating area flooded with inviting natural light and refreshing ocean breezes. Here you can enjoy light meals, snacks of romantic dinners by the ocean.

The cuisine is Modern Mediterranean and Pan-Asian, offering a diverse selection that includes fresh seafood. Our dining experience featured an array of mouth-watering dishes including Seared Tuna, Yum Tom soup, Wag Beef Green Curry, and Pad Kaprao Gai – an aromatic Thai dish comprising stir-fried minced chicken with hot basil, leaf chilli, garlic, and oyster sauce, served alongside fragrant jasmine rice crowned with a perfectly fried egg.

On a sweet note, I developed a passion for mango and sticky rice, a timeless Thai delight renowned for its luscious sweetness and irresistible texture.

Perched gracefully overlooking the beach, Aldo Bar is a haven for both daytime refreshments and sunset soirées. Adjacent to the sundeck, it offers an ideal setting to unwind with a leisurely drink or to toast the day’s end with mesmerising views of the pristine beach. From this vantage point, you’re treated to a picturesque view of longboats gently anchored along the shoreline, with the silhouette of Hong Island painting a scene of pure Krabi magic.

One of the highlights of our stay was a Thai Cookery lesson with Chef Korn. With his masterful guidance, we embarked on a fun culinary adventure, whipping up a three-course traditional Thai feast from the ground up.

Donning our snazzy Amari aprons and armed with a fabulous cookbook to take home, we delved into the art of crafting a zesty Papaya Salad, a soul-warming Tom Yum Soup, and a lip-smacking Thai Green Curry. After which, we savoured the fruits of our labour – delicious, if I may say so myself!

Another lovely Amari touch is the bespoke picnic experience. One evening my friend and I had the prettiest picnic on the beach prepared by the Amari kitchen. We sat under an airy canape on an array of vibrant rugs and cushions, sipping on refreshing coconut milk straight from the source and indulging in a fabulous feast as the sun dipped below the horizon. These experiences can be tailor-made for a special celebration or event.

Facilities at Amari Vogue Krabi
Among the terraces of the resort lie several inviting pools, each with its unique charm. The main pool, though not vast in size (so not ideal for swimming lengths) is enveloped within lush tropical gardens and adorned with stone elephants, adding a touch of exotic elegance. The Rock Pool and Whirlpool by the Voyager Lounge offer a secluded spot, where guests can unwind in tranquil bliss, embraced by the sound of cascading water and the gentle tropical breezes.

And for those seeking further relaxation, there’s the Chaonang Spa which offers a diverse range of soothing therapies and treatments. Plus, there’s a Fitness Centre for fitness fans.

Activities and excursions
The hotel can arrange a host of different excursions and activities. Guests can enjoy kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and an array of other sports activities right at the resort’s doorstep, ensuring endless fun and adventure on the water and a safe environment for children. For those seeking land-based activities, arrangements can be made for tennis, golf, and more activities at conveniently located facilities nearby.

The hotel collaborates with trusted tour companies to provide you with tailor-made Krabi experiences. They can curate the perfect add-on adventure, crafting unique offers for each guest.

Our favourite was a boat trip with Krabi Expert, which was like stepping into a picture-postcard dream! On our private Long Boat, we were looked after by guide Alex, along with our skilled driver, who whisked us away on an unforgettable journey through the azure waters of the Andaman Sea. Our first stop, Hong Island, captivated us with caves, inlets and limestone cliffs adorned with lush greenery, towering majestically over the pristine waters. Here we swam leisurely amidst the lively marine life – the perfect opportunity for snorkelling.

Then, we set sail for Laolading Island, where we indulged in an idyllic beachside picnic, it was all very lovely, with the perfect arc of a beach surrounded by palm trees, sea birds and the gentle lapping of the ocean.

We also took a day trip to Krabi Elephant Shelter, one of several in the area dedicated to caring for ex-working elephants. Picked up directly from our hotel, we embarked on an unforgettable experience with these magnificent, savvy, and intelligent creatures. From feeding them to participating in giving them a mud scrub and bath, it was pure joy from start to finish!
