Staying at home? It works for us!

The dates are in the diary! Life as we once knew it will return again and the London-Unattached team are here to help you make the most of your freedom. In recent years the team has been invited to review hotels in some of the UK’s loveliest spots. Town and country; coast and countryside we have slept in pubs and inns, country houses and spa hotels and experienced some great quality food and drink along the way. Here are a few recommendations for a UK staycation.

UK Staycation Hotel Indigo Stratford upon Avon

Come mid-May we’ll be able to hit the road at last and rediscover the UK’s highways and byways.  A warm welcome from its tourism and hospitality businesses will be guaranteed.  To help you plan your spring into summer breaks we’ve gathered together personal favourites from London-Unattached that we think will help make the perfect UK staycation.  We hope you’ll find them as uplifting as we did.

Tried and Tested UK Staycations

Here are a selection of the different places we've reviewed and can recommend for a UK staycation. Some are special because of their location, some because of the food they provide, some for the stunning accommodation - and some just have it all! Check them out and make your own mind about whether to stay by the sea, inland in the country, in a smaller town or in a large city.

Coastal

If you’re yearning to see the sea then the UK has over 7,000 miles of coastline to satisfy you and wherever you are, you’re never more than 70 miles from the coast. From tiny coves in Cornwall to the historic coastline of England’s northeast; from Scotland’s spectacular islands to Edinburgh’s Portobello; Northern Ireland’s Giant’s Causeway to the wonderful Welsh coastal path; Kent’s calming light and East Anglia’s dramatic sky’s: there’s a sea-scape for everyone.  Which one is yours?

Countryside

Space! After months of indoor urban dwelling many of us are gasping for fresh air and the great outdoors. Luckily, we live in a green and pleasant land with National Parks,
trails, mountains and dales all within easy access.  If you fancy swapping your home for something grander for a few days or tr.eating yourself to some serious pampering, then check out our selection of country house and spa hotels that make a UK staycation the perfect option

City Breaks

Our city centres will spring back to life from mid-May when shops, concert halls, theatres and visitor attractions will once more be providing the distractions and entertainment we’ve so missed. The UK’s city centres hotels offer great bases for exploring the local area, grab some culture and update your wardrobe at the same time!

Country Town Staycations in the UK

For those of us who like the idea of getting away from it all, but not so far that we can’t walk to the pub or take a browse along a high street for a spot of window shopping, there is the all-time great: the great British inn.  Often an ancient coaching inn or pub with rooms these can often provide everything you desire for the perfect break away: great location, good food, stimulating environment and, of course, a comfy bed in which to re-energise.

The UK’s hospitality and tourism businesses have invested much time, money and care in ensuring their establishments are safe for us to visit.  Many have changed their operations to maintain social distancing whilst making sure you still enjoy a great visit.  Look out for the logo “We’re good to go” which indicates that an establishment complies with the industry-backed national standard. You can find what this entails in more detail here.
