Planning a trip to the West Country? Devon is one of my personal favourites – a quintessentially English holiday destination with a series of pretty south-coast harbour towns that are dubbed The English Riviera. You’ll find fabulous seafood in Brixham, home to England’s largest fish market. You can follow an Agatha Christie trail from Torquay to Greenaway and perhaps to the quirky Burgh Island. You can explore the history of the Mayflower in Plymouth and Dartmouth or just discover more about our own Naval history. Or you can hike along the South West Coast Path, following the stunning cliffs of the north Exmoor coast and discovering the fossil-rich rock formations of the southern Jurassic Coast. And of course, there’s the famous Dartmouth Royal Regatta, which first took place in 1834 and will be held again in August 2021. While there are plenty of hotels to choose from, it might just be a challenge to find the right place to stay, that charming boutique hotel in Devon which will give a truly memorable stay.

People often travel through Devon on the way to Cornwall and don’t stop! That’s a real shame as there’s a lot going on – and some fabulous beaches too…

Hope you get to Devon – it’s a lovely place to visit. I have a bit of an Agatha Christie thing and my personal favourite is Greenways (her old holiday house). You can stay there too – in self-catering flats. We’ve just never seen them as they’ve been occupied whenever we’ve visited.
